Do I require a doctor’s referral to attend therapy treatment?
No. There is direct access to therapy in Ontario. However, you may need a doctor’s referral to have the treatment covered by your private health insurance. The therapist may also ask you to see your doctor for help with medications, further investigations or confirming a diagnosis.
Will my private insurance cover the cost of therapy?
Typically yes, each health insurance plan is different. It is best to contact your insurance company to find out how much coverage they have for therapy. Usually there will be a limit of a certain dollar value.
Does OHIP cover any of the treatments?
No. Most clients have coverage through their personal or work insurance e.g. WCB, SGI, Blue Cross, GMS, Manu-life, Great West Life, Sun-Life, Green Shield etc. or coverage by DVA or RCMP.
Do you accept Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) claims?
Yes, we do. Your therapist will complete the necessary paperwork to submit to WSIB for approval of treatment funding. We are registered with the WSIB and we are able to bill to WSIB on your behalf. As long as your claim is approved, you do not have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses.
Do you accept Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) claims?
Yes, we do. We are also able to bill your motor vehicle insurer on your behalf. Before we bill your insurer however, your claim must be approved, and we must have exhausted any extended healthcare coverage you may have. (This billing priority is mandated by government legislation – not clinic policy).
How many therapy treatments will I need?
Every condition is individually evaluated. The number of treatments varies depending on the severity of the condition, the length of time the condition has been present and the patient’s activity expectations (e.g. return to sport). You will be advised of an appropriate treatment plan after your initial assessment.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Please arrive ten minutes early, as you will be asked to fill out a confidential health history questionnaire. Please list any medications you are currently taking. If your list is lengthy, feel free to bring a printed copy with you.
